Pines to Mines Trail is a 75-to-85-mile-long trail route that will connect Truckee with Nevada City, using both new 22 miles and existing 50+ mile trails. Once completed, P2M will be one of the only long-distance, single track, multi-use backcountry trail for hikers, bikers, and equestrians
in the region.
Your support will help us build the 22 new miles of construction, the "Missing Link", between Hole in the Ground and Spaulding Lake Trail.
Pines to Mines Trail is an exciting opportunity for conservation and recreation in the northern Sierra. Nevada County has two large communities, Truckee and Nevada City/Grass Valley, which are on opposite sides of the Sierra Nevada. Trail-based recreation contributes significantly to both the lifestyles of the residents and the local economies.
The Pines to Mines Trail Alliance is a partnership between the Tahoe National Forest, Bear Yuba Land Trust, Truckee Trails Foundation, Truckee Donner Land Trust, Gold Country Trails Council, Bicyclists of Nevada County, and Nevada County. Together, they have been working to realize the dream of a long-distance trail connecting both ends of Nevada County with stunning, adventuresome singletrack.
To find its way from Truckee to Nevada City, the trail traverses across the following existing trails sections, from east to west: Trout Creek Trail, Donner Lake Rim Trail, Hole in the Ground, Grouse Ridge Trail, Spaulding Lake Trail, and Pioneer Trail . The Pines to Mines Trail will be made complete by building a 22-mile section between Hole in the Ground and Grouse Ridge trails.
This map breaks down each of the 'Missing Link' sections along the projected Pines to Mines route from Truckee to Nevada City.
